New books and audio CDs coming out in 2010:
How to Thrive in Changing Times: Simple Tools to Create
True Health, Wealth, Peace, and Joy for Yourself and the Earth (Weiser January 2010)
There has been a quite bit written about how to use different methods to manifest what you want for yourself. In How to Thrive In Changing Times Sandra Ingerman encourages us to use spiritual methods of creation to gather our energies together as a global community to create positive change for the planet and all of life.
She teaches us how to release blocking beliefs that impact our ability to truly tap into our creative potential. She shares with us how to focus our thoughts in a way that weave together a fabric of reality for the life we want to live and for a healthy planet. Sandra shares with us different ways to work with creation and manifestation and how to release disappointment when things just don’t work out the way we had envisioned.
This little book is filled with ways that we can join together with others around the world to create a world filled with love, light, harmony, peace, joy, and abundance for all.
Awakening to the Spirit World: The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation by Sandra Ingerman and Hank Wesselman (Sounds True March 2010)
Today, practicing shamanism doesn’t mean you have to lie in a rain forest or a desert. Thanks to a modern renaissance of shamanic spirituality, practitioners from all walks of life now use powerful indigenous techniques for healing, insight, and spiritual growth.
In Awakening to the Spirit World Sandra Ingerman and Hank Wesselman also invited Tom Cowan, Carol Proudfoot-Edgar, Jose Stevens, and Alberto Villoldo to share their viewpoints, teachings, and practices they teach. As a collective of Western shamanic elders they present a comprehensive manual for making shamanic practices accessible and available in our daily lives. Some of the topics addressed are:
Shamanic Journeying
Reconnecting with Nature
Working with the Environment
Performing Ceremonies and Rituals
Using Art and Song as an Entrance in Spiritual Realms
Working with Dreams
Working with Death
Working with Children
Working in Community
A CD of different shamanic instruments for shamanic journeying is included in the book.

As Sandra Ingerman explains, the surging interest in shamanism in the West arises from the personal, intimate relationship with spirit that these practices offer. “An increasing number of people feel a deep need to connect directly to the web of life,” she explains. With “Shamanic Meditations”, listeners now have a complete guided program for beginning their own exploration of the shamanic pathand tapping into the spiritual field of awareness that unites all living beings.

TRAININGS
WORKING IN COMMUNITY TO THRIVE IN CHANGING TIMES
From Sandra:
I have been very happy with the results I have seen from teaching Medicine for the Earth. I love teaching the gathering myself and continue to hear wonderful results of the work.
And in this workshop we will go much deeper with the work.
The work I have been writing about in my books and The Transmutation News was profoundly influenced by my journeys with Isis and Osiris. The Medicine for the Earth work was directly born out of my Egyptian connections in the spirit world.
And then I found that what I had written was also work that was written about by a variety of writers in the 1930s 1950’s.
I know the unlimited potential that can come from working within on the inner landscaping that is needed to give birth to the fruits of the world we wish to live in.
And I also know how much practice went in to what the ancient civilizations were able to accomplish.
We all are doing the practices we feel passionate about to change ourselves, which changes the world we live in. And at the same time our lives are filled with distractions.
This will be a group who really is willing to commit to a circle to work with creating the inner landscape needed to give solid results in the outer world. The goal would be to learn the difference between the desires of the ego and replace those with our guidance from divine will. We will really look at how we can concentrate our thoughts and words so that we can produce our desired goal. And we will work together in full support of each other so that each person’s goals are exponentially met by the group’s energy. This means that we all need to work through issues about how we compare ourselves to others and move into states of jealousy and envy.
Simply the group would commit to work with creation and manifestation practices as well as practices to truly use the power of concentration and focus where our thoughts and words are in alignment with what we want to produce. We will work with personal goals as well as healing for the planet.
And I know we have been doing this work together as a global community through my writings on the Transmutation News. But I would like to bring a group together to meet and to really devote themselves to the work and commit to a circle.
The group will meet in Santa Fe for four days and then we will continue our work together through monthly teleconferencing. And a yahoo group will be set up for those who want to engage in more communication and support. We will stay committed as an ongoing group.
I will lead most of the training with practices and ceremonies that I have written about in my new upcoming book How to Thrive in Changing Times.
Woods has a great wealth of tools to share. He will teach some light yoga and breathing techniques to calm and center the mind and body as well as teaching meditation techniques to access stillness and Source.
Woods Shoemaker has practiced Zen and vipassana meditation since 1974. He studied yoga with TKV Desikachar and was a yoga teacher at the Krishnamurti School in England. He currently teaches vipassana meditation.
The prerequisite for this training is experience with shamanic journeying. To find a local teacher who can teach you shamanic journeying please visit www.shamanicteachers.com
Please note: Originally I scheduled a workshop in November 2009 but it filled so fast that I have scheduled a second group for February 2010. There is not that much space left so if this looks interesting please contact the workshop sponsor now.

EXPERIENCING THE SHAMANIC JOURNEY: FOR INSIGHT, GUIDANCE, AND HEALING
For many of us the word “shaman” calls to mind a spiritual healer steeped in secret knowledge and mysterious powers. But in this workshop, based on Sandra Ingerman’s book Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner’s Guide, drumming will be used to help participants directly experience the shamanic journey.
Using the shamanic journey to meet up with our own helping spirits we will explore altered states of awareness that can unlock answers to difficult personal questions and mobilize energy for reaching goals in everyday life.
Participants will learn how to use the shamanic journey for insight, vision, and healing. Sandra will also teach a couple methods for healing others as well as shamanic methods for reconnecting with nature to bring balance and harmony into our lives and to the planet.
May 14-16 2010 at Shambhala Mountain in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado please visit www.shambhalamountain.org for information as well as registration. Information on this workshop will be posted sometime in October.

MORE ADVANCED TRAINING IN SHAMANIC HEALING WORK
In Sandra’s Teacher Trainings she shares that it is important for shamanic practitioners to get an overview of the different ways for working with illness. For if one only specializes for example in soul retrieval and is not educated about other spiritual causes of illness then a client might not get what he or she really needs.
It doesn’t mean as a shamanic practitioner that you need to perform all the healing work. But at least be educated enough to know that a client might need more than you personally offer. And then you can refer your client to someone on www.shamanicteachers.com who can offer the help needed.
In this regard Sandra is teaching a one year training that will include different forms of shamanic healing. The work will be split into two separate weeks. You can choose to take both weeks so that you get a good education of different ways of performing healing work in shamanism. If you have already studied the material in one week you can sign up solely for the week for the material you are missing.
After completing this training and then working with clients to gain experience, participants will be eligible to apply to be listed as a practitioner on www.shamanicteachers.com
WEEK ONE
This week will include teaching different methods of extraction, healing with spiritual light, and psychopomp work. There will also be an emphasis on teaching clients how to create the necessary life changes that will support long term healing.
Extraction: You will learn different ways of diagnosing and removing spiritual blockages to alleviate localized pain and illness.
Healing with Spiritual Light: Because the etiology of illness today is different from ancient times, our healing methods must be updated to deal with modern-day illness such as cancer and immune deficiency problems caused by environmental pollution. You will learn healing methods based on the Medicine for the Earth work that can be integrated into a shamanic healing practice.
Psychopomp work: A shaman heals both the living and the deceased. The shaman heals the deceased by doing psychopomp work. This is a Greek word which literally means “leader of souls”. In this work you will learn ways to guide individuals who have died into transcendent realities. And in this time where there are mass catastrophes we will explore ways to move large groups of people who have died and need help in moving out of the Middle World.
WEEK TWO SOUL RETRIEVAL
In this week you will learn how to perform the classic shamanic method of soul retrieval to help people who have suffered soul loss from an emotional or physical trauma. Although the classic method of soul retrieval is a powerful way of working there is much to learn about integrating this ancient shamanic healing method into a modern-day culture.
Sandra will share with you what she has learned from her own practice and practitioners from all over the world how to address the needs of our time. We will look at how to diagnose soul loss, perform soul retrievals, the telling of healing stories. We will also focus on life after soul retrieval…how to help clients create a positive and healthier life as well as ways to help clients integrate the returned soul parts.
This course is based on the new edition of Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self which was revised and updated a few years ago, and also on her book Welcome Home.
Prerequisites for both weeks is a good knowledge of shamanic journeying as well as a strong relationship with a power animal or teacher in the spiritual realms. There is an application for the course so that Sandra can make sure this course is right for you.
Dates: Week One: April 25-30 2010
Week Two: September 12-17 2010

A TRAINING IN NEPALESE SHAMANISM
In 2009 Sandra brought Bhola Nath Banstola from Nepal to teach a weekend workshop on Nepalese Shamanism. The thought was only to bring him that one time but the workshop was such a great success and people loved the workshop so Sandra decided to bring him again.
Bhola will also be available for private healings on June 3 and 4.
Bhola Nath Banstola was initiated into traditional Nepalese shamanism at age ten by his grandfather. Educated in India, he is fluent in English, holds an MA in cultural anthropology from Delhi University and is a Doctor of Naturopathy. Bhola’s life is dedicated to the research, teaching and preservation of the Himalayan shamanic tradition including herbal and ethno-medicines which have been used through ages. He travels world wide as a teacher and healer and for six months each year leads treks to Nepal, India, and Tibet.
I am pleased to offer this rare opportunity to connect with a dear friend of mine, an indigenous Nepalese Shaman who is a renowned international healer and teacher. Bhola Banstola brings the art and wisdom of his ancestral Himalayan Shamanic Tradition to share with us on this visit! This experiential two-day workshop will be devoted to the healing of oneself and as a foundation for doing healing work for others. An introduction of traditional Nepali shamanic healing systems and practices will be followed by a technique for inducing the shamanic trance. Shamanic journeys will be followed by sharing, group shamanic dance, and discussions on disease and healing.
The group will conduct a healing ceremony in circle transferring the spiritual, emotional, and physical obstacles and hindrances into a shamanic mandala. There will be seven levels of cleansing, transferring and annihilating unbeneficial energies and two levels of thanksgiving to the spiritual guides and ancestral spirits. Participants will receive a sacred mantra to be used in doing healing work, prayer, meditation and when calling on the
deities as a part of this beginning initiation which will then be followed by group drumming, dancing and thanksgiving songs.
Some experience with shamanic journeying is required. Please visit www.shamanicteachers.com to find a local teacher of shamanic journeying.
The workshop will be June 5-6 2010 and is non-residential. To sign up for the workshop and/or private healings on June 3-4
Contact: Ruth Aber phone: 505-474-0386 email: aruthabelle@aol.com
