Dear Friends, This is also an opportunity to announce the Second International Shamanic Gathering to be held in April, 2002 in Oracle, Arizona. I invite all of you who walk this path to participate in this gathering. It is a wonderful opportunity to join with the extended and global shamanic community. Specific plans will continue to unfold this Fall with opportunities for sharing of your wisdom and talents as well as learning from others. After the first international gathering, I came away with a deeply renewed sense of the power and love present in our shamanic community....a power often under utilized because we are spread to so many different geographical places. I also realized how much healing can be done on behalf of Earth herself when a large community gathers and focuses intention for this purpose. As for my workshops in December, the first one is a course, Shamanism, Dying and Beyond, for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and will be taught at the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino, California (Los Angeles area). The complete description of this workshop can be found here, including a registration form you can print and send to Dan Jordinelli who is sponsoring this workshop. All correspondence regarding this workshop should be sent to Dan at either his email or snail-mail address. These are included in the workshop description. For those of you have already taken this course, there will be some different materials than I taught last time in Los Angeles several years ago and I personally always benefit from exploring basic shamanic subjects several times so that the methods and paradigms become deeply known within my soul and mind. The second workshop, Ancestral Shamanism, will be taught at the Esalen Institute, Big Sur, California. As for my teaching in 2002, I am just now beginning to put together my schedule. It will probably not be completed until November after I return from doing some of my own questing with Spirit in Montana. I am making plans to teach in Whidbey Island in June; plans to teach a workshop with Sandy Ingerman in the summer; and to teach in Michigan later next Fall. And I will be teaching some workshops in BearShamanism. There is now a tradition of a gathering/workshop with women in healing professions which meets at Sequoia Retreat Center in Ben Lomond, California. For information on the above workshops, please visit the site for updates. For those of you interested in doing Advanced Bear Shamanism, an introductory workshop in Bear Medicine is being taught by my partners in this work: Susan Gilliland and Laurie Levon. For women interested in doing BearMedicine and who have not studied this with me before, this workshop will be a prerequisite for Advanced Bear Medicine workshops. I will not be teaching the introductory workshop. I am so grateful Susan and Laurie are teaching this workshop. This allows all of us doing the Advanced Bear Medicine to come with basic understandings, methods, and journeys upon which Advanced workshops build. I also encourage those women who have studied with me in Montana these last two years to consider taking this introductory workshop. My own need to pursue deeper mysteries with the BearCircles in Montana meant some significant introductory material was not introduced. In these three days you have the opportunity to study these "ways" of BearWomen and deepen your relationship with this special shamanic wisdom way. They are teaching this Introductory workshop this September, 2001 and next Spring in Whidbey Island, Washington. For more information, contact Laurie Levon at evrchgwmn@theriver.com In addition, I will have the relevant information for the Spring workshop in Washington posted at this web site. Information for the one in September, 2001 is already posted here. As Summer begins to move towards Fall, I wish for us all the full flowering of our own beauty. As the days of harvest start unfolding, may we harvest those fruits of our hearts that spread more healing and joy to all around us. May our walk be one of gratitude for the abundance so freely and generously offered from Earth herself. May we in turn, share of our abundance. Blessings and love, Workshops in 2001BearMedicine Workshop Plans 2001 - 2001This is a letter describing Carol's plans for BearMedicine workshops in Fall, 2001 and for the year 2002. April 20-22, 2001Traditional Healing and Modern MedicineWomen's Retreat This is the fourth annual gathering of women in the various healing professions. Our only requirement is that women who wish to participate have had prior shamanic courses or workshops since we do advanced shamanic activities. If you wish to know more about this, contact Dr. Rosalind Shorenstein, phone number: (831) 459-1002; address: 700 Frederick Street, Suite 103, Santa Cruz, CA 95062 May 56, 2001Shamanic Divination Training One of the classic tasks of the shaman is to journey into nonordinary reality in order to obtain answers to questions, both at the request of others and for one self. Participants in the workshop have the opportunity to engage in divination journeys for each other a well as for themelves, and to gain experience in using various time-tested shamanic divination techniques. In the shamanic search to become persons of knowledge, they learn as shamans have from time immemorial, how to converse with plants as well as animal species, how to learn about the use of quartz crystals, and how to seek and receive revelatory knowledge from visionary sources. Prerequisite: June 2124, 2001An International Conference on the Soul of the Feminine I will be presenting at this converence.
